Derrick DeShawn Lubbin Taylor (Smith), 15, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Ardmore. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore, with Pastor Steve Wall officiating. Interment to follow at Porter Cemetery.

Derrick was born Jan. 13, 1998, to David Smith and Stephanie Sharee Taylor at Ardmore. He attended Plainview Middle School, and was anticipating attending Plainview High School in the fall. Derrick loved playing video games, Facebooking his friends, and playing basketball. He enjoyed bow fishing and hog hunting. Derrick was employed with Duvak's Collision Center in Ardmore through the Chickasaw Youth Program. He is a member of the Ardmore Indian Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Susan Moore.

Derrick is survived by his mother, Stephanie Taylor, and her significant other, Tommy Lee; his father, David Smith, and his wife, Felicia; brother JuJu Smith; great-grandmother Sallie Palmer; grandmother Laquitta Palmer; grandfather Erey Steven Taylor and wife Lou; aunts Tally Morris, Amy Johnson, Ereyn Taylor, Selina Taylor and fiancé Garrett Coronado, Elizabeth Taylor, Chanena Taylor and Piper Taylor; uncles Donnie Johnson and Robert Jason Smith and fiancée Ginna Mason; and a host of family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Wallace, Jarrett Wallace, Jason Wallace, Jacob Wallace, Marcelino Salcedo and Bruce Palmer. Honorary bearers will be Tony Christie, Derek Christie, Curtis Johnson, Donnie Johnson and members of Derrick's ninth grade class at Plainview High School.

Wake services will be 6 to 8 this evening at Griffin-Hillcrest.
