Tommy Earl Davis was born Dec. 14, 1948, in Shawnee in Pottawatomie County and passed away June 30, 2013, at the age of 64. He was the second of 11 children born to the late Roosevelt W. Davis Sr. and LaRuth Collins-Davis.
Tommy accepted Christ at an early age, attending various churches in Shawnee and New Lima Scipio Baptist Church. Recently, he regularly attended New Life, serving the Lord with Pastors Carl and Betty Young.
Tommy attended schools in Shawnee and New Lima, including Dunbar Elementary, Shawnee Junior High School, and New Lima School.
Tommy worked at Oklahoma Baptist University and went to Job Corps, working as a firefighter and many other odd jobs helping the elderly in the community.
He loved being in the parks and the library, reading a variety of books.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Davis Sr.; a brother, Kenneth E. Davis; and uncle, Eugene Collins Sr.
Tommy leaves to cherish his loving memories his mother, LaRuth Collins-Davis of the home in Shawnee; two brothers, Norman T. Davis and Roosevelt W. Davis Jr. of Shawnee; seven sisters, Lillie Davis (Elwood) Black, Sylvia (Troy) Price of Oklahoma City and Midwest City, Maxine Davis, Tina Davis, JoAnn (Rich) Sanders of Shawnee, Vernanell (James) Richardson of Muskogee, and Rosetta Davis-Henderson of Erie, Penn.; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Shawnee with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.
Visitation was from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee.
