Cheyenne Rose, 16, of Carthage, Mo., is participating in her second year at the International Finals Youth Rodeo.
“I love it down here…it’s really fun,” she said.
Rose is the third sibling from her family to compete at IFYR. She said she came to watch when her brother and sister competed, but she’s excited to get to be the one competing now.
“Meeting new people and getting to experience everything is really exciting,” she said.
Rose is competing in barrel racing this year with a horse, Whiskey, she borrowed. She said she has had Whiskey for a couple of weeks so they could get used to each other. Rose said the only issue she’s having with borrowing a horse is getting used to what makes him nervous and helping him overcome those things. She said he dips his head at the first barrel every time.
“If I can get him past the first barrel, he’s good,” she said.
Rose plans on attending NEO in Miami, Okla. after high school to major in Agricultural Business.
