  • OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A graduation ceremony is planned at the Oklahoma County Courthouse for pregnant women and mothers who have completed a prison diversion program.

The ceremony will be conducted Tuesday by ReMerge of Oklahoma County. Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb will be the keynote speaker.

The program works with women offenders who are facing incarceration to make them productive community citizens. The four-phase prison diversion program holds participants accountable while providing the necessary services to support their recovery and promote responsible parenting. Treatment plans are developed for each participant to individualize treatment and address their unique needs.

ReMerge is a public-private partnership that works closely with the district attorney, public defenders, the Department of Corrections and other agencies and nonprofit services that help women who are facing prison time for nonviolent felony convictions.
