Cleveland County Sheriff's Office plans school supply drive.

A new school year begins in less than a month for children in Cleveland County. However, some families face a struggle to buy supplies for their kids.

Sheriff Joe Lester and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure students will have the necessary materials when they walk into the classroom in August.

CCSO will collect school supplies for Lexington, Little Axe and Noble middle school and high school students. The public may drop off donations from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Cleveland County Detention Center, 2550 W. Franklin Road, in Norman.

The following supplies are needed:

•#2 Pencils

•Colored pencils

•Pencil top erasers

•Pens (blue, black and red)

•Highlighters

•Expo Dry Erase Markers

•Black Sharpies

•Pocket folders with prongs

•Three-ring binders

•Subject dividers for three-ring binders

•Spiral notebooks

•Composition notebooks

•Notebook paper

•College-ruled paper

•Graph paper

•Copier paper

•Index cards

•Ruler

Lester said once materials are collected, employees will distribute the supplies to all three schools.
