  • OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City middle school will not open for classes as scheduled because of construction projects.
     
    While the rest of the district's students will begin the school year on Monday, more than 1,000 students at Taft Middle School will get at least an extra week of summer vacation while repairs to the ceiling and sewer system are completed.
     
    District Superintendent Karl Springer told KOCO-TV (http://bit.ly/16oXOFS ) that it isn't safe for students to be in the building.
     
    School officials are hoping to begin classes on Aug. 12.
