High school students can get ready for the ACT test with help from the Shawnee Public Library and a library database giving assistance in preparing for the test.
The Learn-a-Test workshop, “Prepare for the ACT,” takes place at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
Participants will get a hands-on look at the Learn-a-Test database and the resources it provides for standardized test advice.
The class is offered for teens. Space is limited so registration is required in advance.

Tecumseh Public Library hosts Talk of the Town discussion
The Tecumseh Public Library’s monthly Talk of the Town Book Discussion is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the library, 114 N. Broadway.
The monthly event features a potluck and book discussion targeted to adults. Normally the group meets the final Thursday of each month except when a holiday or other event may cause the meeting to be at an earlier time.
Registration is not required to take part.

Library welcomes La Leche League for informational meeting
The Shawnee Public Library will host the La Leche League of Shawnee for an informational meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the Conference Room of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
The group offers mother-to-mother support, information and education to breastfeeding and expectant mothers.
This introductory meeting will give a chance for pregnant women or mothers to connect with others for support.
Registration is not required to attend.
