Amid increasing media reports of the NSA’s mishandling of American citizens’ private information, Americans are rightfully outraged at the Administration’s lack of transparency and accountability about the Agency’s actions. House Republican Policy Committee Chairman James Lankford (R-OK) issued the following statement regarding the controversy and the Agency’s lack of transparency to Congress about security leaks:
"As a Member of Congress, I expect to receive accurate and complete information from a federal agency when requested. It is absurd that the intelligence community was not completely forthcoming in its answers about classified government programs misusing Americans’ private information. An agency that cannot fully answer questions asked by a co-equal branch of government can expect significant structural changes and stringent oversight in the future."
