  • Bethel scored runs in bunches and received excellent pitching Friday in chalking up victories over Dickson (10-0) and Elk City (3-0) at the Oklahoma Shootout held at the Shawnee FireLake fields.

Kim Herron recorded both pitching victories. Opposite Dickson, Herron gave up two hits in the four-inning run-rule decision. She posted five strikeouts and walked two.

Bethel sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning while scoring all 10 of its runs.

Shelby Miller of Bethel was 3-of-3, including two hits in the fourth. Makayla Whitten clubbed a two-run home run and Rylee Steward had a three-run roundtripper. Rachel Wade chipped in with a run-scoring single.

Herron then stymied Elk City on just two hits over seven innings. She finished with six strikeouts and three walks.

Bethel tallied all three of its runs in the fifth inning as Rachel Stark and Zoe Rayner had a run-scoring single apiece.

“Our pitching and defense were pretty good and we put a bunch of hits together,” Bethel coach Tommy Block said.

Bethel will be idle until 5 p.m. Tuesday when it plays a varsity/JV doubleheader at Jones.
