Dale throttled Bridge Creek 10-0 to start the day Friday, then moved on to down defending state champion Wayne 4-2 in the Oklahoma Shootout at the FireLake fields in Shawnee.

Taylor Powell (4-0) held Bridge Creek to a lone hit while striking out three batters and walking none. The game was stopped after four innings on the run rule.

Jaelin Flewallen smacked a triple as the Lady Pirates compiled 10 hits. Raegan Holt and Danni Manning each notched a double and a single, and Caitlyn Pitchford came away with two singles.

Dale out-hit Wayne, 6-3, as Taylor Anderson ripped her first home run of the season — a solo shot in the fifth inning. Lauren Hood also had a big fifth inning with an RBI double.

Erin Harris earned the pitching win to move to 5-0. She struck out eight.

The brightest part of the day, head coach Andy Powell said, is that Dale did not strike out at all in either game.

“As a team, we struck out zero times,” he said. “That was a big key, and that was a team effort.”

Dale is 10-0 going into a 5 p.m. varsity/junior varsity doubleheader Monday at Byng.
