Shawnee police continue to investigate a shots-fired incident after a security guard discharged a weapon at a vehicle during an incident in the parking lot of Dietrich's Bar.
A filed police report indicates a security guard shot at a vehicle that was accelerating toward another security guard after the occupants were asked to leave the bar, which resulted in a passenger being hit by gunfire.
The driver of the vehicle fled, but a person showed up at a hospital emergency room in Seminole County a short time later for treatment of a gunshot wound to his arm.
Officer Darren Briley's report shows he was dispatched to Deitrich's, 623 Kickapoo Spur, after a white Lexus involved in a shooting with a security guard fled the scene.
As police sorted out the scene, they learned there had been a fight inside the bar and a security guard was trying to get two individuals in a Lexus to leave when the driver allegedly yelled at another security guard and accelerated the Lexus toward that guard in an attempt to hit him, the report shows.
At that point, the other security guard fired at the Lexus four or five times until the vehicle stopped, the report reads.
The passenger, later identified as Joseph M. Davis, 35, of Seminole, got out of the vehicle and was holding his arm, according to reports.
The security guard tried to stop the driver of the Lexus from driving off, the report shows, by using mace and firing one more round, but the driver of the vehicle left going northbound on Kickapoo Street.
Police at the scene found six bullet casings and took possession of the security guard's .40-caliber firearm.
The incident occurred about 1:49 a.m. Saturday. At about 2:28 a.m. Saturday, officials with the hospital in Seminole reported they had a gunshot victim in their emergency room seeking treatment, so police responded there.
The report shows they talked to Davis' girlfriend who told officers she heard the gunshots; she and her friends drove Davis to the emergency room.
Police also spoke with Davis at the hospital, who told officers he and the driver got into a fight with someone at the club. Davis also told officers that as they tried to leave, a security guard came out and yelled at them before the shots were fired.
Davis reported he got out of the car when he realized he was hit, and that's when the driver fled and he got into a car with his girlfriend and went to the Seminole ER.
From the report, it appears the bullet entered his left bicep and split before exiting in two places.
