Shawnee Middle School social studies teacher Pamela Hamman’s recent summer trip to Korea was a once in a lifetime experience.
The Shawnee teacher traveled with 38 teachers from all over the U.S. sponsored by the Korea Society in New York and the South Korean government. The fellowship focused on all of Korea from ancient times to today’s economy.
Visits to museums, temples, cultural sites and the demilitarized zone helped all to experience the many aspects of Korean culture.
Items brought back to use in the classroom to enhance lesson’s about Korea included a Korean flag, photos, pamphlets, metal chop sticks, embroidery items.
The time spent learning about Korea will make teaching about this subject much more exciting to her students.
