  • Tecumseh’s Detherage hot on both sides of the ball

  • Winning pitcher Jordan Detherage recorded a route-going five-hitter and contributed a two-run double Tuesday to propel Tecumseh to a 7-2 victory over host Shawnee.

  • Winning pitcher Jordan Detherage recorded a route-going five-hitter and contributed a two-run double Tuesday to propel Tecumseh to a 7-2 victory over host Shawnee.
     
    Tecumseh never trailed after posting two runs in both the second and third innings for a 4-0 lead.
     
    Shawnee scored both of its runs in the bottom of the seventh.
     
    Detherage, in seven innings of work, whiffed two, walked one and hit one.
     
    Aspen Grimes of Tecumseh had an RBI single and a double. Teammate Bailey Smith knocked in a fifth-inning run on a double and also had a seventh-inning single.
     
    Tecumseh captured its eighth straight triumph and improved its record to 11-1.
     
    “We got some timely hits and made some key defensive plays,” Tecumseh coach Chad Trahan said.
     
    Tecumseh combined seven hits with five walks, one hit batsman and six Shawnee errors.
     
    Alexis Freeman of Shawnee went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double.
     
    The Lady Savages, ranked fifth in Class 4A, will entertain Harrah at 5 p.m. Thursday in a junior varsity/varsity doubleheader.
     
    Shawnee, 5-3, will launch the Shawnee Tournament Thursday. The tourney will run through Saturday.
