  • Malique Lytle finished second with a time of 17:19.30 as Shawnee opened its 2013 cross country season at the Carl Albert Titan Invitational.
     
    The Lady Wolves, led by Daylan Storie at13th with a time of 13:47.40, were fourth in the team standings with 83 points. Westmoore was first at 39, and Edmond Santa Fe was second at 47. Bishop McGuinness was third at 72.
     
    The Lady Wolves had four runners, including Storie, finish in the top 20. Blair Johnson was 14th at 13:48.46; Sadie Cullison was 18th at 14:02.53; and Paige Hughes was 19th at 14:03.12.
     
    Shawnee’s boys were sixth in the team standings with 162 points. Westmoore was first at 63, and Bishop McGuinness (100) and Duncan (105) were second and third, respectively.
     
    Besides Lytle, the Wolves’ Tyler Day was in the top 20 of the 5,000-meter race. Day was 16th at 18:53.40.
     
    “All in all, we had a great season opener,” said SHS head coach Kendra Ray. “There is always something to improve upon, however we are off to a great start. The girls’ strength lies within their unity. The strength of the boys’ team has definitely improved.”
     
    Shawnee will go to Bethany Friday, Sept. 6, for the Putnam City Invitational.
