  • Social media is continuing to revolutionize the way people interact and the way businesses do business. They are the prime forum for sharing about and selling products and services.

A Social Media Bootcamp will be held for small businesses on Sept. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Citizen Potawatomi Nation North Reunion Hall, 1702 S. Gordon Cooper Drive, Shawnee.

The free event is sponsored by Citizen Potawatomi Nation CDC and includes materials and refreshments. Class size is limited so early registration is encouraged, and registration may be made online at www.reiwbc.org.

This training is geared toward businesses that want to better engage their target audiences through social media and will help newcomers as well as veterans stay current about the latest social media tools and techniques.

The morning will cover how to best utilize Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube to market and grow businesses. This is an intermediate level workshop and some basic knowledge of social media is suggested.

“If your business needs a jumpstart in using social media as a marketing tool, then this workshop will be very beneficial,” said Jennifer Edwards, coordinator, REI Women’s Business Center. “In today’s competitive environment, businesses must utilize all of the tools available to them, and social media is an excellent way to spread the word about a new business or amp up the productivity of an existing business.”

Presenter is Tess Mack, author, brand ambassador and social media expert with over 10 years of experience in social media networking.

Workshop partners are Citizen Potawatomi Nation CDC, Tecumseh Chamber, Gordon Cooper Technology Center and REI Women’s Business Center, funded in part by the U. S. Small Business Administration.
