  • OBU adds faculty members

  • Dr. Galen W. Jones has joined the faculty of the Herschel H. Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry at Oklahoma Baptist University.

  • Dr. Galen W. Jones has joined the faculty of the Herschel H. Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry at Oklahoma Baptist University for the fall 2013 semester. Jones is an associate professor of church planting in the college.
     
    He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor of theology degree from the Beacon Institute of Ministry in Columbus, Ohio. He earned both a Master of Arts degree in Christian education and Ph.D. in philosophy from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
     
    Jones has served as adjunct professor at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., and Luther Rice University and Seminary in Lithonia, Ga. He served as instructor/lecturer at Beeson Divinity School, Extension Division: Tuscaloosa County Baptist Association, and Christ for the Nations Bible College in Ghana, West Africa.
     
    Jones served as senior pastor and church planter of the Shekinah Covenant Congregation in Cincinnati, Ohio, and associate pastor for the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky.
     
    He has also been deeply involved in the field of missions and planning. He served as African American church planting strategist for the Alabama State Board of Missions and church planting consultant for the Georgia Baptist Convention in Duluth, Ga. In addition, he was appointed as a career missionary for the North American Mission Board in 2006.
