  • A Shawnee man with an outstanding warrant for possession of juvenile pornography was arrested in the Oklahoma City area when police tracked him to a home after he didn’t arrive by plane on return trip from the U.S. Virgin Islands, authorities said.
Chad Pope, commander of the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s warrants team, said Jullian Ramon Ahumada, 32, was arrested in what became a joint operation between the local warrant team, U.S. Marshals, along with Oklahoma City and Moore police.
Ahumada had a Pottawatomie County arrest warrant issued Aug. 29 when a felony charge of possession of juvenile pornography was filed, court records show.
The arrest warrant in that case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force, Pope said, adding the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is a part of that task force.
Pope said authorities learned that Ahumada was reportedly flying into the Oklahoma City airport Thursday night.
Pottawatomie County Warrant Deputy Danny Columbus went to Oklahoma City to work with police and marshals there in an attempt to arrest Ahumada upon his return to Oklahoma.
The group, working undercover surveillance at the airport, learned that Ahumada apparently took a plane from the U.S. Virgin Islands into Dallas, Pope said, but he didn’t arrive in Oklahoma City through his connecting flight.
“But his luggage did,” Pope said.
Further investigation overnight led authorities to track Ahumada to an address in the Moore area, where he was located and arrested, Pope said. Instead of taking a flight, Ahumada apparently drove to Oklahoma City from Dallas. Pope added.
Ahumada was transported and booked into the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center, where he remained jailed Friday evening on a $5,000 bond.
His next court date in the pornography case hasn’t yet been scheduled.
    Watch for any updates.
