Convicted sex offender draws 18 months in federal prison.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that Kenneth Allen Jones, 31, of Durant, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for Failure to Register as Sex Offender.
Charges arose from an investigation by the United States Marshal Service. The defendant was indicted in January, 2013 and pled guilty in February, 2013.
The indictment alleged that from in or about February, 2011 until on or about Jan. 14, 2013, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, and elsewhere, the defendant, an individual required to register as a Sex Offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, after having received a felony conviction from the State of Michigan, on or about Nov. 17, 2006, for the felony offense of Criminal Sexual Conduct, 2nd Degree (person under 13), traveled in interstate commerce and knowingly failed to register and update his registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
The Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing. The defendant remains in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his nonparolable sentence.
