  • There is a unique collection of Batman action figures, vehicles, books, graphic novels, and t-shirts currently on display for the month of September at the Shawnee Public Library. The display is just part of the personal collection of David P. James of Shawnee.

“This is the first time I’ve displayed any of these items in public, and I hope that others get some pleasure from viewing them, and maybe re-living part of their childhood, especially if they remember the 1960’s television show, or any of the current Batman television shows or movies,” said James.

In the collection on display at the library are the “First Look” version of Batman from 1939, different versions of his sidekick Robin, Batgirl, and some of Batman’s most famous arch-enemies, such as The Joker, The Penguin, and The Riddler.

If James’ display piques an interest, the Pioneer Library System has many books about Batman and other super heroes available for checkout.

The Shawnee Public Library is located at 101 N. Philadelphia in downtown Shawnee. For more information, or to speak with librarians about a display to offer, please call the library at 405-275-6353.
