  • Juan Camacho and Salome Whiteshirt Matanane of McLoud will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary.

  • Juan Camacho and Salome Whiteshirt Matanane of McLoud will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary.
    They have six children, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
    Juan retired from the U.S. Air Force on Jan. 1, 1972, after 21 years. He worked at Seminole Jr. College as a security officer, Aero Cleaning, and Tinker AFB Commissary. Salome was a full-time homemaker.
    Juan is from the island of Guam (Marianas Islands) in the South Pacific, where he completed basic training. Salome is an Arapaho Native from Concho.
    Juan was stationed at McConnell AFB in Kansas when he met Salome while she was a senior at Concho Indian School. She went to Chilocco Indian Vo-tech.
    They married after Juan was stationed at Tinker AFB.
    They have traveled to many parts of the world together. They will celebrate their anniversary in October with a trip to San Antonio.
