  • Macomb’s Lady Hornets prevailed in both halves of a doubleheader Thursday, 20-10 and 14-2 against Strother.

  • Macomb’s Lady Hornets prevailed in both halves of a doubleheader Thursday, 20-10 and 14-2 against Strother.
     
    Both games were halted after five frames on the run rule.
     
    Wet weather made for some slippery conditions in the opener, and the teams combined for nine errors. Macomb’s six miscues led to all 10 of Strother’s runs being unearned.
     
    Kailin Gregg gave up nine hits and seven walks while striking out seven.
     
    Leading Macomb offensively in the first game was Destiny Redmon with a single, a triple and three runs batted in. Ashley Carpenter and Dakota Daily logged two singles each and combined for nine RBI.
     
    Carpenter was the winning pitcher in the second game. She struck out four and walked three while giving up two unearned runs on two hits. Gregg closed, striking out seven.
     
    Redmon finished offensively with a single, a double and three RBI. while Carpenter ripped a pair of triples and drove in two runs. Gregg drove in four runs on a pair of singles.
     
    Now 23-9, the Lady Hornets will go to Wanette Monday for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
