  • Dale’s Lady Pirates, Class 2A’s top-ranked squad, logged two solid wins Saturday to win the Davenport Tournament.

  • Dale’s Lady Pirates, Class 2A’s top-ranked squad, logged two solid wins Saturday to win the Davenport Tournament.
     
    The Lady Pirates defeated the hosts 6-0 to start the day, then took down Class A’s No. 19 Davenport again in the finals, 14-2. The first game was stopped after six innings on a time limit, and the championship game was stopped after five on the run rule.
     
    Taylor Powell earned the pitching win in the first encounter. She struck out five, walked one and gave up six hits in moving to 12-0.
     
    Offensively for Dale, Erin Harris went 3-for-3 with a double, and Lacey Hood hit a single and a solo home run. Caitlyn Pitchford added a triple, and Danni Manning added a double.
     
    Harris (14-1) was the winning pitcher in the title game. She gave up two runs on three hits while striking out six and permitting one walk.
     
    Jaelin Flewallen collected two singles and a double, and Lacey Hood finished with three singles. Lauren Hood and Pitchford got two singles each, and Manning got a single and a double.
     
    Dale, now 28-1, will host Class 4A’s seventh-ranked Bethel at 4:30 p.m. Monday in a varsity/junior varsity doubleheader.
