    The Shawnee Public Library hosts two sessions of the free class “Preparing for the ACT” for high school students at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, and again at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
     
    Participants will learn about the library database Learn-a-Test, which gives a chance for building test-taking skills prior to their testing day.
     
    Space is limited so registration is required to attend either class.

    Library offers creative kids movement morning three times in October
     
    The Shawnee Public Library has expanded its creative movement program, “Wiggle Your Nose and Touch Your Toes,” to include three sessions in October.
     
    The program will take place at 10 a.m. Thursdays, Oct. 3, 17 and 31, in the Community Room of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
     
    Children ages 2-5 and their caregivers will enjoy music, dancing and creative movement activities for the children to enjoy. Registration is not required to attend.

    Paint Pumpkins at tween and teen offerings in Shawnee
     
    The arrival of autumn means it’s pumpkin season, and the Shawnee Public Library is giving a chance tor tweens and teens to decorate a pumpkin as a holiday decoration at an upcoming day of programs.
     
    The Pumpkin Painting workshops will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, with tweens ages 9-11 invited to decorate at 10:30 a.m. and teens ages 12-17 having their program at 2 p.m.
     
    Each participant is asked to bring their own pumpkin that they then can decorate with painting supplies provided by the library.

    Shawnee Public Library sets Preschool Story Time twice on Tuesdays
     
    Page 2 of 2 - The Shawnee Public Library invites some of its youngest visitors to take part in the fun and learning of Preschool Story Time at the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
     
    The library will host Preschool Story Time twice a week, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on each Tuesday throughout October.
     
    Each 45-minute story time session is geared to children ages 3, 4 or 5 years old. It will feature a variety of books, board stories, music, rhymes and creative movement activities for the children.
     
    Registration is not required to take part.
