A tragedy took place just outside of Mannsville Saturday night when three people were killed in a collision involving two motorcycles and a pick-up truck.
Scott Lawson, 39, of Ardmore; Robert Lynn Pullen, 64, of Davis; and Karen Pletcher, 56, of Ardmore, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident ½ mile west of Mannsville on state Highway 199. The three people, along with Christie Lawson, 37, of Ardmore, were traveling west on motorcycles when an eastbound 2003 GMC pick-up went left of center and struck the motorcycles head-on, according to the Department of Public Safety.
John Peebles, 80, of Blanchard, was identified as the driver of the pick-up. Peebles was pinned in his vehicle for 35 minutes before being freed by the Mannsville Fire Department. He was admitted in good condition to Mercy Hospital Ardmore with a leg injury.
All four on the motorcycles were thrown for an unknown distance upon impact. Scott Lawson was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson and was pronounced dead at the scene with a massive head injury. Christie Lawson was transported to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in stable condition with trunk, internal and head injuries. Both Pullen and his passenger, Pletcher, were pronounced dead at the scene with massive head injuries.
A seat belt and airbag were in use by Peebles. The report indicated helmets were not in use.
The accident remains under investigation.
