  • On Friday, Sept. 20, leaders from St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital participated in a community beautification project. The group had the opportunity to build flower gardens at the Shawnee Airport and clean out flowerbeds at the outdoor learning gardens at Shawnee Early Childhood Development Center.

“This provides a beautiful welcome to those that visit this community and a place for children to grow and learn in God's wonder of nature," states Kami Lively, director of Respiratory Therapy and Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center at St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital.

Lively coordinated the volunteer project for hospital leadership, called Leaders Understand Volunteering.

"The values of SSM Health Care are close to each employee’s heart. Community outreach is more than inside our four walls, it extends to those that we serve,” says Lively. “The Leaders Understand Volunteering project will be an outreach to meet the needs of the community.”
St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital worked with Tom Terry to identify gardens within the community that needed attention.
