Class A’s second-ranked Dale Pirates picked up a 10-0 run-rule win in five innings Monday over Tupelo.
Tanner Nelson three the first three innings to earn the pitching win. He gave up three hits and one walk while striking out four, and reliever Chase Byndas logged two strikeouts and gave up two hits and one walk in two innings.
The Pirates amassed 11 hits as Nelson went 3-for-4 and catcher Gage Ross went 2-for-2. Byndas and Jace Wilkins were each 2-for-3 with a double, and Hunter Sanford was 1-for-3 with a double.
Now 19-4, the Pirates will host Mason and Ninnekah Thursday for a district tournament. Mason and Ninnekah will square off at 2 p.m., and Dale will face the loser of that game at 4 p.m. The Pirates will then take on the Mason-Ninnekah winner at 5 p.m.
The tournament will continue Friday, and Dale will host Class B’s top-ranked Red Oak at 1 p.m. Saturday.
