  • Macomb’s Lady Hornets came out on top of a slug-fest with Carney Tuesday, 17-15.
     
    The teams combined for 31 hits, with 17 coming from the home team. Destiny Redmon clubbed two singles and a two-run home run as Macomb improved to 25-9.
     
    Ashley Carpenter hit a single and a triple and drove in one run, and Kailin Gregg added three singles and four RBI. Dakota Daily and Sandray Moore notched three singles apiece and combined for three RBI, and Tori Annanders finished with a two-run triple.
     
    Gregg pitched the first four innings and earned the win to move to 14-6 on the year. She gave up seven runs — one earned — on six hits while fanning three batters and walking six.
     
    Carpenter closed, giving up two earned runs and six unearned runs on eight hits. She struck out two and walked five.
     
    Macomb committed six errors, while Carney committed five.
     
    Macomb will go to Roff Thursday for a district tournament. The Lady Hornets will face the Roff-Vanoss loser at 2:30 p.m.
