  • Hiram and Lorene Ryan celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
    They were married Sept. 27, 1953, after Hiram returned from serving his country in the U.S. Army, Korean War. They moved to Tecumseh following Hiram graduating from Langston University in January 1958 to his family’s farm south of Tecumseh.
    They raised five children in Tecumseh Public Schools, Harvey (Sonja) Ryan Bethel, Marvin and Nathaniel Ryan, Tecumseh, Clifford (Kim) Ryan, Los Angeles, Calif., and Linda Ryan Talton, Yukon.
    Hiram retired from Tinker AFB in 1976 after working for 23 years. Lorene worked domestically part time and as a full-time wife and mother.
    They have been an active part of this community, advocating for friends and family and being foster parents, grandparents, and mentors to several children and families throughout the Pott. County area and very active in their church of 53 years, the Galilee Baptist Church of Shawnee, Rev. Anthony Rhone, pastor.
    They are proud grandparents to 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and surrogate parents and grandparents to many children, friends and families.
