Shawnee’s annual Pilots and Pancakes Fly-in will be hosted at Shawnee Regional Airport Saturday, Oct. 5.
Pilots may begin flying in as early as 7 a.m. for breakfast, with the airport opening to the general public at 8 a.m.
The event is free, however breakfast is $5, as is parking.
The Rotary Club will be preparing breakfast. Larry Gill estimated the club would prepare between 750 and 1,250 pancakes.
Breakfast sponsors include Shawnee Milling Co., Highland Dairy, Homeland, Oklahoma Natural Gas, and Lopez Foods.
Several activities are planned throughout the day, starting with opening ceremonies at 10:55 a.m. Stunt planes will perform until 1 p.m.
The Experimental Aircraft Association will be providing free plane rides to children ages 8-17. Adults may ride in a helicopter for a fee.
Planes will also be on display, and other children’s activities are available, including an inflatable playground.
Food vendors will also be present, and adults can participate in tandem skydiving. Anyone interested should contact Chris Vandeveer at Shawnee Regional Airport at 405-878-1633.
