Shawnee Public Library to present two Baby Story Times in October.
The Shawnee Public Library invites some of its youngest future readers to a Baby Story Time that’s just for them.
Caregivers and kids can join library children’s department staff twice in October for Baby Story Time, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 8 and 22. The programs precede the library’s weekly Preschool Story Time programs that start at 10 a.m. on these days.
Activities will include age-appropriate stories, music, bounces, rhymes and interaction activities geared to children between 6 months and 30 months of age and their caregivers.
Registration is not required to attend.

Shawnee Public Library sets basic computer class series
The Shawnee Public Library will host a three-part series of classes for new computer users in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave. Classes will take place on consecutive Tuesdays in October.
Registration is required separately for each class and may be completed at the library or by calling 275-6353.
The schedule includes:
Introduction to Computers, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 – For new computer users, a look at basic terms and functions, including a lesson using a mouse.
Introduction to the Internet, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 – Basic tips on searching the World Wide Web. For new computer users.
Getting Started with Email, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 – Create a free email account using one of several free services available online.
Shawnee hosts Digital Photo Editing for Beginners class
Make photos stand out with the Shawnee Public Library’s Digital Photo Editing for Beginners class, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
Participants will learn how to touch up their photos with their computer. The class is an introduction to the digital photo editing program Paint.net.
Computer experience and skills are required and space is limited so registration should be completed in advance to attend.

Tecumseh Public Library to host series of computer classes
The Tecumseh Public Library will host a series of free computer classes on Tuesdays in October, beginning Oct. 8. Each class begins at 5 p.m.
Classes will feature hands-on instruction covering several basic topics.
The schedule includes:
Oct. 8 – Computer Basics, a look at the basics of the computer, including how to use a mouse
Oct. 15 – Microsoft Word Basics, an introduction to the popular word processing program
Oct. 22 – Search the Internet, tips for getting around safely on the World Wide Web
Oct. 29 – Computer Internet and Library Catalog, a look at some of the functions of the Pioneer Library System catalog

Craft a bottle cap bracelet in Tecumseh
Turn bottle caps into a creative bracelet at the Tecumseh Public Library in an upcoming program for children, at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
The program is for ages 5 to 11, and registration is required to attend. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
They’ll have the chance to decorate and design bottle caps provided by the library into a bracelet they can wear home.
