  • House Republican Policy Committee Chairman James Lankford supported federal workers by voting in favor of H.R. 3223, the Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act. The bill ensures retroactive pay for all federal employees for furloughs resulting from a lapse in appropriations beginning Oct. 1.

“In all 18 of the previous federal government shutdowns since 1976, we have made our federal families whole again,” said Lankford. “Our country’s federal employees are hardworking and dedicated Americans. They should not be punished for the failure of others to act. It’s our responsibility to protect them, and I’m glad the House unanimously supported this bill.

“Now, it’s up to the Senate and President to act immediately. In the last eight days, the House has passed 18 spending measures to fund vital services of the federal government, including two full continuing resolutions. In the same time period, the Senate voted on measures like designating the week of October 7th ‘National Chess Week.’ It’s time to stop playing games and sit down together to discuss real solutions for real people.”
