The meet, with 15 varsity girls’ teams and 16 varsity boys’ teams, was held at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
Maddie Rutherford led the Lady Wolves with a fourth-place finish in 13:49, and Shawnee had five runners total place in the top 20. Paige Hughes was sixth at 13:53; Daylan Storie was 12th at 14:05; Lynsey West was 16th at 14:10; and Sadie Cullison was 20th at 14:25.
Pryor was the girls’ runner-up with 90 points. A total of 102 runners competed in the girls’ race.
“The girls ran a well-executed race as a collective unit today, especially on such a technical course,” said SHS head coach Kendra Ray. “This was a huge win for us.”
Friday’s win is the second straight meet title for the Lady Wolves.
“It was very exciting to see all their hard work begin to pay off,” Ray said. “This is the first-ever pre-state team championship for the Shawnee Lady Wolves cross country program. We are excited to see how this season plays out.”
Shawnee’s varsity boys were sixth (with 156 points) in the 16-team field, and Tyler Day led the Wolfpack individually with a 14th-place time of 18:31. Comacho Hernandez was 23rd at 18:49.
“The boys ran pretty tough today,” Ray said. “We are going to have to overcome some obstacles as we go. We’re working on stepping up and filling some gaps when other have an off day.”
Shawnee’s JV girls netted the top four spots in a 58-runner field. Avery Kosemund was first at 14:45, and Anna Dowhower was second at 15:26. Amber Vongsouvanh (15:29) was third, and Emily Palinkas (15:32) was fourth.
