Hearing on Monday deals with possible fraud in Social Security Disability benefits.

U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Ranking Member Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) will hold a hearing entitled, “Social Security Disability Benefits: Did A Group of Judges, Doctors and Lawyers Abuse Programs for the Country’s Most Vulnerable?” on Monday, Oct. 7,at 3 p.m. EST in room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

In connection with the hearing, Coburn, Senator Levin, Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and Senator McCain, Ranking Member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations will unveil a report exposing the findings of a two year investigation into a case study of abuses involving the approval of Social Security Disability benefits.

The first year of the investigation was conducted by the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations when Senator Coburn was the Ranking Member there, prior to his becoming the Ranking Member of the full Committee.
