Jimmy was born Oct. 19, 1913, to Jim and Eva Ray, an only child. He married Juanitta Mash in May of 1937. They had a son, Jerry Ray, and a daughter, Jane Crume. He has two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters, three great-great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson who was born on Jim’s 99th birthday.
In 1936, he went to work in the lumber business working for Springer Lumber and Bison Lumber yards in Shawnee. He later moved to Cleveland where he managed Benson Lumber yard until he retired in 1975. After retiring, he moved to Durant. Juanitta died in 1998. He later married Lola Moran. After her death in 2007, he moved to Shawnee to be closer to Jerry.
He loves to dance, attending three or four times a week. He also loves his church and working in his garden and sharing his produce with his fellow seniors.
