  • Roberto Antonio Valeri died Sept. 18, 2013, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
    He was born in Hibbing on Jan. 16, 1939. He attended Assumption Hall Elementary School and Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chein, Wis. It was here that he acquired his great love of books and learning. He attended the University of Michigan in Detroit where he met and married Sharon Oseleto. They returned to Hibbing where Bob was involved in the family business and raised his family.
    In his later years, Bob moved to Ardmore to be near his father. It was here that he met and married Lucrecia Scott, and they enjoyed three happy years together before her death. While living in Oklahoma, he was able to enjoy his favorite activity all year long; he was an exceptional botanist and could grow any plant ,whether mundane or exotic.
    Bob is survived by his children, Victoria Valeri (James Benson) of Blaine, Marc Valeri (Barbara) of Maple Grove, Lisa Thoennes (Troy Forschen) of St. Frances and stepson Marshall Scott of Norman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anthony Valeri and Travis and Luke Thoennes; his sisters, Mary Beth (Cliff) Perreira, Alicia (Tom) Toscano, Denise (Harry) Atlas and Vickie (Ray) Sogard; brother, Jim (Val Nelson) Valeri; his beloved aunt and uncle, Mitzi and Arvid Nasi; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
    Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nobby and Alicia Valeri; and his brother, William Valeri.
    A funeral service will be Oct. 19, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Church in Hibbing, Minn. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
