  • NASNTI and Math Department host Open House
The Seminole State College Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions Program (NASNTI) staff in conjunction with the Math, Science, and Engineering Division faculty recently sponsored an open-house for their new developmental math computer lab.

The new lab located on the SSC Campus in Tanner 303 will provide a much needed space for students needing assistance with their math courses. The lab is equipped with 20 computers, a printer, and several tables. It will serve as the designated location for students needing to complete assignments on MyMathLab, access their cruiser accounts and use the internet.

For students in need of tutoring assistance the NASNTI program provides peer tutors free of charge in the math lab. Peer tutors are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. on Monday and Wednesday, from 9-2 on Friday, from 9-3on Tuesday and Thursday, and from 5:30 p.m.. to 8 p.m.. Monday through Wednesday evenings.

Additionally, faculty members from the Math, Science, and Engineering Division volunteer their time in order to assist students with tutoring or to allow them time needed to make up any exams they might have missed.

This is the second of two labs provided by the NASNTI Program. In year one, NASNTI provided SSC with its first-ever developmental English lab named “Hoccickv Cuko,” a Muskoke word for “writing house.” This lab provides students with both faculty and peer tutoring, assistance with planning and organizing drafts, research techniques, identifying common writing errors and an area for both group and individual studying. The writing house is also located in Tanner Hall in room 302.

In year three, NASNTI will be providing the college with a lab for our new transitional education program. The lab will consist of 20 state of the art computers, the latest in instructional technology, and a much needed classroom space.
