Diana Knight, secretary of the Pottawatomie County Election Board, is welcoming the public to see the Election Board’s new location during an open house planned Oct. 23.
The Election Board, which was located on the first floor of the Pottawatomie County courthouse for many years, has moved to the county commissioner’s building at 14101 Acme Road, which is located between MacArthur Street and U.S. 177 on Acme Road.
“We want to cordially invite everyone to come see our new location,” Knight said, adding the come-and-go event will be 1 to 3 p.m. that Wednesday afternoon.
The open house will give everyone an opportunity to see the new facility before a busy election time.
Refreshments will be served and tours of the office areas will be available. There are new signs outside the county commissioner’s building to point residents to the Election Board, which has already seen traffic since the move in July.
“People are starting to find us,” Knight said, adding there have been people registering to vote or coming in to change their addresses.
The move occurred to help create more space the courthouse and provide more room for the Election Board.
While more room is the biggest advantage, there’s also a large conference room that can be used for in-person absentee voting, Knight said, and there’s plenty of parking at the facility.
