Marilyn A. Neustadt, 81, of Dallas, Texas and Colorado Springs, Colo., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Penrose–St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. She was born on May 11, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Texas to Otis and Grace Moody.
Marilyn grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Pittsburgh High School. After high school she attended North Texas University and Southeastern State University in Durant, where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She went on to teach art and other subjects in elementary school in Ardmore.
Marilyn married Allan Neustadt in 1968 in Ardmore. They were happily married for 44 years. Marilyn was the president of the Dallas Book Club and a member of the First Universal Unitarian Church of Dallas.
Marilyn is survived by her spouse, Allan Neustadt of Dallas, Texas and Colorado Springs, Colo.; her three children, Linda Merrick of Edmond, Matthew Leaman of Westminster, Colo., and Julie Neustadt of McCall, Idaho. Marilyn also had four grandchildren, Joshua Merrick of Wasilla, Alaska, Kate Merrick-Smith of Austin, Texas, and Stokli and Osha Ashcraft of McCall, Idaho; and three great-grandchildren, Jessie and Ward Merrick of Wasilla, Alaska, and Fisher Smith of Austin, Texas.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov 1, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, 75225 at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
