Lutheran church holding Germanfest this weekend.
St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its annual Germanfest fundraising event at St. Benedict Catholic Church’s Benedict Center in Shawnee Saturday, Nov. 2.
Each year, St. John hosts a rousing, rollicking celebration and auction to benefit their building ministry.
Lively German music will be provided by The PolkaMeisters from Tulsa.
Along with music a German meal of bratwurst, German potato salad and other authentic fare will be available.
One of the highlights of the event is the raffling of a homemade quilt, which is made each year by a member of the church. In honor of the 30th year, there will also be door prizes every 30 minutes. Proceeds of the raffle will benefit their building fund.
“The food is all made by our wonderful Kitchen Krew, and we have excellent cooks at St. John’s! We hope the community will come join us for food, fun and dancing,” said event coordinator Bonnie Larson. “We’ll also have a silent auction, drawings for really nice prizes and a gorgeous handmade quilt.”
Tickets for the event are $15 for Adults, $6 for children 6-12 and those under 5 are free.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the live auction will start at 7 p.m.
