  • Shawnee third at Harrah Invitational

  • Shawnee opened its 2013-14 swimming season with an overall third-place finish Saturday at the Harrah Invitational.

  • Shawnee opened its 2013-14 swimming season with an overall third-place finish Saturday at the Harrah Invitational.
     
    The Wolves were third out of 11 teams, while the Lady Wolves were fourth out of 11 teams. There were a total of 190 swimmers at the event.
     
    For the Wolves, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Michael Heon, Branden Duff, Kory Conaway and Sean Winegardner place first. Winegardner was second in the 100 breaststroke, and fourth in the 200 individual medley.
     
    The Lady Wolves took fourth in the 400 freestyle relay with the quartet of Bridgett Longest, Tate Mocabee, Brenna Grein and Breanna Barnett. Longest was also second in the 50 freestyle.
     
    Veronica Ortiz took third in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Michael Heon was fourth in the 50 freestyle.
     
    Shawnee’s girls also took fourth in the 200 freestyle relay with Dottie Lee, Coral VanDyne, Ortiz and Longest.
     
    For Tecumseh High School, Kaleb Hutton was fifth in the 100 butterfly and sixth in the 200 freestyle. McLoud’s Rachel Hubbard was 10th in the 100 backstroke, and 12th in the 100 freestyle.
     
    Shawnee will compete Thursday versus Mustang at the Shawnee YMCA. The meet will start at 5 p.m.
