  • High school seniors at McLoud Public Schools have the unique opportunity to submit college admission applications with support from knowledgeable volunteers during an onsite college app day, Thursday, Nov. 14.

The event is part of Oklahoma’s College App Week, a project of Oklahoma GEAR UP.

GEAR UP is a federal college readiness grant program administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

College App Week was successfully piloted in 24 school districts across the state during the fall of 2012 with more than 2,000 students submitting applications to college. Because of the pilot year success, the 2013 group will include an additional 36 school districts served by a partnership GEAR UP grant at The University of Oklahoma K-20 Center.

The primary goal of College App Week is to get more senior students, especially those who haven’t considered attending college and those from first generation college families, to apply and establish relationships with colleges and universities that will hopefully lead to enrollment.
