Lincoln County 4-H’ers met at Wellston recently to compete in the County Speech Contest. The 4-H Speech Contest is designed to allow 4-H members to practice and develop their public speaking skills. Members present a speech and/or illustrated presentation to be judged on presentation, content, and overall completeness
Clover buds, under 9 years old, participate but do not compete.
Clover buds participating were Cale Mitchell, Chandler, Kaiden Lupton Chandler, Mallory Poteet, Agra, Trey Poteet, Agra, and Ethan Stone, Chandler.
Beginners Show and Tell division; Kyler Miller, Agra, received a blue ribbon and Champion.
Beginners, Illustrated Presentations were Jared Stone from Chandler, he received a blue and Champion, Lily Sestak of Prague also received a blue ribbon.
Beginners, regular speeches were presented by Taylor McConnell, Wellston and Shelby Duke, Prague. Both received a blue ribbon with Taylor McConnell winning Champion.
Beginners, Extemporaneous Speeches were presented by Taylor McConnell, Shelby Dukes, Jared Stone, Lily Sestak, Noah McConnell and Kyler Miller. Each received a Blue Placing for their topic, “What Does 4-H Mean to Me.” Lily Sestak of Prague 4-H was the Champion presenter.
Intermediate Regular Speeches were presented by Seth Stone, Chandler, Tyann Jones, Wellston, Caroline Pepper, Chandler, and Sydni Case Wellston receiving a Blue ribbon and Charity Stevens, Agra and Jareth Case Wellston, receiving a red. Champion was Seth Stone.
Intermediate, Illustrated champion was Logan Richardson, Davenport. Ginger Grammer Davenport received a Blue ribbon.
