  • Ritz hosts jazz band concert.

  • Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., the Historic Ritz Theater will host “Swing’n Into Christmas With DCJO” a big band jazz Christmas concert.
     
    DCJO (Del City Jazz Orchestra) will feature professional trumpeter Paul Stephens.
    Paul Stephens, an alumnus of the Del City Jazz Band dynasty has played trumpet professionally for over 20 years. He recently ended his tour with the Washington D.C. Army Jazz Ambassadors to continue his freelance career.
     
    He has played lead trumpet for Maynard Ferguson’s Big Bop Nouveau Band, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Louie Bellson, Herbie Hancock and the jazz/rock band Chicago. He has toured with the likes of Barry Manilow, BJ Thomas, The Four Tops and Roy Clark.
     
    He has been a featured soloist with The Hoagy Carmichael Orchestra, The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, The Boston Pops, The Milwaukee Symphony, and other such music organizations.
     
    He has played before Presidents, Kings and Queens.
    DCJO will be making their fourthShawnee appearance.
    They have played the Ritz twice before and was featured in the Shawnee Music Festival last Summer. The band was formed shortly after a Del City High School Jazz Band reunion and has been together for almost 3 years.
     
    Shawnee’s own Toppie Lincicome sits lead trombone for DCJO, will be hosting the program. Lincicome states, “This is one hot smoke’n band. I’ve never met a group who loved playing music more than these folks”.
    Tickets to be sold at the box office, which opens at 6:30PM night of the concert.
     
    Adults $7, Seniors & Students $5, Children $3.
