OHP probes fatal pursuit crash.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal weekend accident that occurred during a police pursuit in Seminole County, with the name of that victim unknown pending further investigation. Two other occupants of the vehicle being pursued fled on foot from that crash.
That accident occurred about 1:41 a.m. Sunday on County Road EW 119, just west of NS 360 in Seminole County.
The accident occurred as a 2008 Toyota was being pursued by an unnamed police officer, with that officer’s agency listed as being withheld pending further investigation, the OHP teletype shows.
According to the patrol, after several miles of the police pursuit, the unknown driver of the Toyota came to the top of a hillcrest at a high rate of speed and lost control. The vehicle entered into a broad slide before rolling several times.
Troopers said one of the Toyota’s three occupants was ejected into the roadway when the vehicle rolled, with the police unit striking that occupant, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other occupants of the Toyota fled on foot, the OHP reported.
The latest update on the teletype indicates troopers are unsure if the decedent was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident or if that person was actually a passenger. The investigation is ongoing.
The identities of the two occupants who fled also are listed as unknown.
Watch for updates.
