Elizabeth Ann McCharen, 56, "Little bitty Ann" as her daddy would call her, was born Sept. 9, 1957. Her soul was set free on Dec. 13, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 in The Mill Street Garage, 32 Mill St., Ardmore, under the direction of the family. Cremation services are under the direction of Hillcrest Crematory.

She was chosen by Wade and Billie Ruth McCharen to be their first daughter. They raised her in the First United Methodist Church. Her love of animals began early as she grew up at the "farm" in Lone Grove. She was an accomplished horseman, when she earned her lifelong nickname, "Roper." She rode in many of Ardmore's parades.

Elizabeth graduated from Ardmore High School, Class of 1975. She continued her education by attending College of the Ozarks in Missouri. She traveled to Europe, lived in Telluride, Colorado, but the love of Ardmore drew her back. You could not help but to love Elizabeth. Her heart was big, and only God can judge it.

She was fortunate to get to live out her life in the country that she loved. She loved the outdoors where they always had a garden. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She shared her journey with her partner, Monica Reed; the unconditional love of her dog, Mickie; and many other animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandparents, W.I. and Willie Mae Akers and Walter and Ruth McCharen.

She is survived by her partner; her sister, Mary Ellen McCharen; her niece, Kathryn Elizabeth McCall; and her nephew, Jake Lochner.

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection, and the life: He that believeth in me, Though he were dead, Yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me Shall never die," John 11:25-26.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name at the Ardmore Animal Shelter, 321 Carol Brown Blvd., Ardmore, Okla. 73401
