Library fines bring lots of donations.

Pioneer Library System’s Food for Fines garners 2.4 tons of donations

The Pioneer Library System has announced its annual Food for Fines promotion has raised 2.4 tons of donations of food for local organizations.

During Food for Fines, PLS cardholders could bring one can, box or bag of non-expired, non-perishable, unopened and undamaged food which was exchanged for $1 credit each on fines, up to a maximum waiver of $20 off an account.

This year’s promotion took place from Nov. 14 through Nov. 23, with staff at each PLS Hometown Library collecting donations from cardholders.

This year’s donation benefactors include:

McLoud – Grace Point Church and Outreach

Moore – Brand Senior Center

Newcastle – Newcastle Christian Church Food Bank

Noble – First State Bank, First Baptist Church, Discover Church, Maguire Farm Store

Norman – Salvation Army of Norman

Purcell – McClain County Christmas Collection

Shawnee – Salvation Army of Shawnee

Southwest Oklahoma City – Moore Public Schools Food Pantry

Tecumseh – Pentecostal Church of God
