  • OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police say the man who was shot and killed by an off-duty Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper during an apparent attempted robbery at the trooper's home was a state prison escapee. Police said Monday that Trooper John Marion shot and killed 22-year-old Anthony Darnell King of Tulsa about 6:45 p.m. Friday after King walked into Marion's open garage, pointed a gun at the trooper and asked for his belongings. Police say Marion led King to the home's second floor where the trooper used his gun to shoot King and that King died later at a hospital. Online state prison records show King was in prison for assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle. Marion is on paid leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
