SHAWNEE — No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist defeated Southwestern Assemblies of God 75-40 at the Noble Complex Thursday night in the Sooner Athletic Conference opener for both schools. It was the first ever SAC game for SAGU, who joined the conference prior to this season. The Lady Bison shot 50 percent from behind the three-point arc for the game, making 10 of the 20 shots attempted. OBU held the Lady Lions to just 22.6 percent shooting from the field, including a 3-15 night from behind the arc. The Lady Bison scored 21 points off 24 SAGU turnovers, and the OBU bench outscored the Lady Lions 27-8. After jumping out to a 41-20 halftime lead, the Lady Bison started the second half on a 13-2 run that put the game out of reach for the Lady Lions. OBU led by as much as 38 with just under nine minutes remaining in the game on the way to the 35-point victory. Junior guard Charity Fowler led the way for OBU, scoring a season-high 18 points on 6-12 shooting, including making 5-9 from distance. She also pulled in 10 rebounds to register her first double-double of the season. Elisabeth Daniels finished with 15 points and three assists for the Lady Bison, Zbeyda Aremi had five blocks in the game, and Allie Brandenburg finished with three steals.
