SHAWNEE — The Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball team worked the ball down low all game and came away with a 96-64 victory over Mid-America Christian Tuesday night in the Noble Complex. The No. 7 ranked Lady Bison remained unbeaten in Sooner Athletic Conference play with the win while handing the Lady Evangels their first conference loss of the season. OBU scored 54 points in the paint, making an effort to take high percentage shots near the rim. It paid off for the Lady Bison, who shot 55.7 percent from the field for the game, including an outstanding 71.9 percent in the second half. After a slow start to the game, OBU was able to push the lead to double digits with under six minutes remaining in the first half before heading to the locker room up 35-29. The Lady Bison had their foot on the accelerator throughout the second half, scoring 61 points on 23-32 shooting. Only four shots came from behind the three-point line following intermission. OBU broke the game wide open when they went on a 26-9 run that stretched deep into the second to put them up 32 points, which would be the final margin of victory. MACU shot just 36.4 percent and committed 24 turnovers, leading to 29 points for the Lady Bison. OBU assisted on 22 of 34 made field goals. Senior center Zbeyda Aremi led all scorers with 21 points. The Tunis, Tunisia native also grabbed four rebounds, blocked three shots, and had two steals. Freshman Cameerah Graves played a very efficient game, scoring nine points on 3-4 shooting and dishing out five assists against zero turnovers. Guard Janell Beacham finished with six rebounds, Marida Lewis added 18 points, and Charity Fowler had five steals in the winning effort. Ashlee Ferguson led MACU with 11 points and Triana Wilridge scored 10 as the only two Lady Evangel players to score in double figures. OBU moves to 11-2 on the season and 3-0 in SAC play.
