The enrollment period for the Gordon Cooper Technology Center division of Practical Nursing is now open for the full-time option.
Practical Nursing is an adult program, which prepares students to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. The tentative start date is Aug. 7, 2014.
The program is approximately 11 months in length. Classes meet Monday through Friday, with classroom hours typically 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Clinical hours for this option vary, often starting earlier in the morning with some evening hours required.
Course content focuses on the nursing skills, theory, and professional requirements for an entry-level position as a licensed practical nurse. The program is divided into semesters. A clinical course in incorporated into each semester.
A comprehensive pre-entrance test is required for consideration into the program. Pre-entrance exams are administered each Monday at the school and are scheduled by appointment. The nursing program is open to both male and female applicants who possess the physical, intellectual and emotional qualities required to become a practical nurse. Applicants must be high school graduates or have successfully passed the General Educational Development (GED) test. Financial aid is available for qualified applicants.
